Welcome to my new blog!

Hi – My name is Patricia Dines, and I’ve been an eco-writer, educator, and activist for nearly 20 years. One of my key missions is to provide useful information that empowers constructive action for the earth. One way I do that is through my Ask EcoGirl project, which includes a monthly eco-advice column, “insanely useful” informational booklets, and a Facebook page for ongoing eco-information and tips.

So now I’ve decided to add a blog to EcoGirl’s activities, as a place for me to share more of what I find on my journey, including my experiences seeking to be green, working as a writer, and exploring ways that I seek to help steer our culture's away from disaster and towards our better selves. I’ll also pass along other people’s good tips and insights and invite readers to share their constructive thoughts as well.

So why do I say “adventures” in my blog subtitle? Certainly not because I’ll be doing dangerous feats of physical derring-do (oh my!). I include it because I think that we have a chance to participate in one of the greatest adventures human beings can have: being on the leading edge of culture change at a crucial time in the world’s history.

And while the grand dramatic actions draw the media's attention, I think that the real changes happen when we all shift our daily decisions in green directions. It’s our cumulative everyday actions that are causing the problem, and thus changing them is a key part of the solution. I hope that with my work I can help us all do just that. Oh, and we can do some big things too!

So now I embark on this new branch of my journey. I very much welcome your participation! Let me know what you like and what you'd like to see here. Any constructive feedback and conversation is welcome. I also invite your questions for possible future Ask EcoGirl columns.

Because I hope that this will also be a place where we can explore these ideas, and connect with others who care about these issues. 

Who knows what we might create together!
